What is an Antenna Tuner?
• An antenna tuner (coupler is a more correct term)
is an impedance matching device which minimizes
“mismatch” loss (maximizes power transfer).
NOT different from any other impedance matching
NOT different from any other impedance matching
circuit. It does NOT tune the antenna!
• Old R.L. Drake devices were named MN-4, MN-
2000, MN-2700. Guess what the MN stands for.
• Also referred to as coupler, antenna coupler,
transmatch, Matchbox, etc.
